Basalt Projects and Moscow Polytech awarded winners of student conference and announced new competition
April 10-21, 2017, the Moscow Polytechnic University hosted the Open International Student Scientific and Technical Conference “SNTK of Moscow Polytechnic University – 2017” where students from MAMI and other higher institutions participated.
The awards ceremony for the best papers was held on the April, 21. A sponsor of the event, Basalt Projects, distinguished the paper “Designing the water-cooled fuel channel for the IVG.1 reactor in solid modeling systems Solidworks 2010 SP 5.0 and Compass – 3D v.15”.
Maxim Chernykh, the General Director of Basalt Projects Inc., awarded the Diploma and the prize to Y. Sheveleva who had presented the project.
During the awards ceremony, the participants got to know about the start of the following specialized competitions:
- 1-st Moscow student competition for automobile design projects based on basalt composite materials “Basalt. Auto”.
- 1-st Moscow student competition for design projects of small architectural forms using basalt composite materials “Basalt.City”.
The competitions are hosted by the Moscow Polytechnic University and Basalt projects Inc.
Teams of students and/or graduates of technical, machine-building and automotive faculties of higher educational institutions located in the Russian Federation are invited to participate in the competitions.
During the first stage of “Basalt.Auto”, the members of competition teams have to develop design project for interior/exterior parts of the KIA Seed car with the use of basalt composite materials.
The first stage of “Basalt. City” offers to develop a unique design project for the facility relating to environmental design, which should be located in urban parks, also based on basalt composite materials.
The finalist teams, selected according to the first stage results, will get an opportunity to produce a reduced prototype by using equipment and materials provided by the competition initiators.
The winning team of each competition will be able to produce a full-scale product using basalt composite materials and introduce this project during the 2nd International Basalt Forum on November 16-17, 2017.

The design projects can be submitted starting from May 10, 2017, so the applicants have time to consider their projects and to register as participants.
